About

Elizabeth Larose was raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Her artistic inclinations were evident from an early age as she sketched portraits and still life during every moment of free time. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honors from San Jose State University where she studied Fine Art. Subsequently she obtained her Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Columbia University.

Larose’s work deals with energy in nature and the consciousness of a place. Influenced by the colors and climate of her native Louisiana and years lived in India, Turkey and Colombia, her works evoke timelessness and the spirit of her subject matter. Her minimalist landscapes are simultaneously playful and peaceful, elegant and energetic. They appeal to us for their modulation and juxtaposition of color and subtle play of light.

Larose has always placed a great emphasis on her southern Louisiana roots and nature-based painting. She has exhibited in galleries around the world, and her work is included in numerous private and several corporate collections. Her commitment to learning and growth are in evidence both in her professional and recreational pursuits that have included travel to all seven continents. She is conversant in several languages.

Larose is also a passionate hiker, dancer and educator. She is an avid supporter of the arts in its myriad forms. Elizabeth lives with her family, pelicans, egrets and turtles in New Orleans where she also has a studio.
