On my way back and forth from New Orleans to Baton Rouge each week, I pass over the Bonnet Carre Spillway. It's a beautiful expanse of water with some marshy lands. And off in the distance from all this natural beauty is an oil refinery. On my better days I try to see it as a structure, metal and steel, a counter balance to all the blue and green surrounding it. It just is. Some days I pray for green energy to power all the world and that those in the oil industry find prosperity elsewhere. Some days I just get mad and find myself a bit hypocritical since I'm in a vehicle using oil even if it is a hybrid. Painting this helped me to let what is be while imagaining better.
